What is Vacuum Excavation?
Vacuum Excavation is used for many reasons, verifying utilities, or to eliminate hand digging and much more. Depending on the nature of the customer’s needs safely exposing utilities can eliminate costly damages by hand digging. Most used when having to verify utilities that are of great depth by using an air knife to break up the dirt so the Vacuum can place the dirt in a tank. (Similar to the use of a Vacuum cleaner in your home) Some customers working on job sites may need to know exact depth of the underground utility and find it safer to expose the underground utility by Vacuum Excavation.
What is the charge for a Private Locate?
Each company has their own rates for Private Locate request, so you must find a company in your local area to request pricing.
When I called “811” as required by law to dig, they didn’t mark my electric from the meter to my house. Who should I call about that?
The reason the electric service to your home was not located by the Utility Locator is because any underground facility past the metering point is considered a private utility. Utility companies only locate owned utilities. Example: Any utility buried by a private contractor is considered private and owned by the property owner. This can include: Water and Sewer past the cleanout or valve location, and Dog Fences, Irrigation systems, property sight lighting, etc. At this point the property owner must hire a private locating company to mark those utilities.
